As the Commercial Cook, you’ll manage the day-to-day kitchen operations at the hospice. You’ll create balanced, nutritious meals tailored to the individual dietary and cultural needs of children and young people, working closely with the Hospice Manager, clinical team and families. From menu planning and food preparation to managing stock levels and food safety compliance, you’ll play a role in maintaining a safe, welcoming and caring environment.

What do you do? - Prepare, plan, and cook nutritious meals for children and young people with varied dietary needs.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, families, and volunteers to create tailored meal plans.
- Ensure food safety standards and hygiene protocols are met at all times.
- Order and manage fresh produce and pantry items within a set budget.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and cleanliness in line with food safety guidelines.
- Support volunteers assisting in the kitchen and contribute to a welcoming team environment.
What do you need? - Certificate in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a healthcare or not-for-profit setting.
- Previous experience preparing food texture for PEG feeding.
- Proven knowledge of dietary guidelines for children and food allergens.
- Experience preparing meals for diverse dietary, cultural, and religious needs.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (mandatory).
- First Aid Certificate (desirable).
- COVID-19 and flu vaccinations (required).
- Working With Children Check and Police Check (required).
- A warm, empathetic nature and passion for helping others.
