Woods & Co Recruitment has partnered with a premium hospitality group to find a composed and collaborative Sous Chef with strong leadership qualities to join the team at one of their most popular summer venues on the Mornington Peninsula, with a capacity of 250-300.
As Sous Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact beyond the plate. You'll play a critical role in mentoring and developing team members, fostering a positive and engaged work environment that supports long-term retention. Delivering simple, high-quality dishes that align with the venue’s offering will be key, as will taking ownership of food cost management, stock control, and operational efficiency. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to recruitment, financial analysis, and product development while sharpening your management skills.

What’s in it for you? - $80,000 - $85,000 + Super.
- 38 contracted hours with no more than 43 hours per week.
- A 7–8 person kitchen roster with a focus on teamwork and support.
- Strong leadership support from a head chef with extensive experience.

- Full-time role with structured schedules: 10 AM–3 PM shifts, swap over, and kitchen service till 10 PM.
What do you do? - Act as the 2IC to the Head Chef, supporting leadership in the kitchen.
- Oversee and manage food preparation for a menu that’s simple, approachable, and consistent.
- Train and mentor team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during busy service periods.
- Support in managing food costs and ensuring efficient operations.
- Be available for rostered shifts, including weekends during the busy summer period (next 6–8 weeks).
What do you need? - Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior CDP ready to step up.
- Exceptional leadership skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing a team.
- A calm, level-headed approach – no "old-school" attitudes here!
- Experience in managing food costs and understanding the numbers behind the operations.
- Reliability and commitment to being part of a positive, supportive kitchen culture.
- Immediate availability to start.
