Woods & Co Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a busy and iconic hotel/pub venue located on Bourke Street in Melbourne's CBD. Renowned for its extensive menu, lively atmosphere, and high-volume covers, this venue is the perfect fit for a skilled Sous Chef ready to step up and work in a fast-paced kitchen. 

As a key player in a small kitchen team, you'll work closely with the seasoned Head Chef and an experienced team to deliver consistent quality and efficiency during bustling services, from pre and post-event crowds to everyday lunch and dinner rushes.

• $70,000 - $80,000 + Super 
• Melbourne CBD location with consistent covers.

• Kitchen closes at 9:00 pm, providing reasonable finish times.

What do you do? 

• Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of a busy kitchen. 
• Lead and manage service, particularly on the pass during peak times. 
• Oversee and maintain food preparation, quality, and consistency. 
• Support kitchen hands and cooks to maximise efficiency and minimise prep time. 
• Work across a varied pub menu, including wok and stir-fry dishes. 
• Deliver high-quality meals for large covers, with peak services reaching up to 500 covers. 
• Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth operations during event periods and busy weekends. 

What do you need? 

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume venue. 
• Strong leadership skills and confidence working the pass. 
• Expertise in pub-style cuisine, with the ability to handle varied culinary styles. 
• Availability to work weekends during busy periods. 
• A proactive and efficient approach to kitchen operations. 
• Exceptional time management and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
